HOOVERIII

Having originally been born in a garage in El Segundo, California, as a solo drum machine project by Bert Hoover, Hooveriii (pronounced “Hoover Three”) has now evolved into its true final form – a seven member band adept at creating their own brand of psychedelic space rock and inspiring their fellows in Los Angeles’ indie music scene. Since 2014, HooverIII releases at a steady pace, and one can’t help but think of Thee Oh Sees, Can or King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard while listening to their many singles, EPs and albums. This flamboyant psychedelic rock band plunges us into a whirlwind of riffs, fuzz effects and unstoppable melodies. They also make us trip from spacey groove to expansive, synth-friendly ballads and epic future-folk experimentations, with songs referencing the past while stretching toward an unknown future. With their pastoral and expansive latest album Pointe, we don’t listen to the sound of Hooveriii maturing. It’s the sound of a band at the height of their ascending power.
